Todays NFL........Or Yesyerdays?......Or Just the NFL?..............

Todays NFL is full of miscreants and derelicts. But as you can see according to this list, so were, and are yesterdays. From alleged allegations to actual charges and convictions, this list is like the first day in law school: Intro to idiots and the entitlement syndrome 101. I’ve been pretty rough on BB for his off field B.S. (I mean alleged BS). However as a supporter of the Steelers I will root for BB upon his return. And I’m sure most will. (Even Chris at NicePickCowher). I guess this Steelers haze / veil I wear puts my team in a softer light than I perceive others around the league. I always held the Steelers with such high regard. One could compare it to the reverence faithful worshipers show to their deities. Heinz field being my Temple. I’ve now become a little cynical. Not Big Bens fault. It’s the daily barrage of idiocy. Whether it be MLB for a guy not "hustling" to the NFL and a positive test for HCG. Sh!% even the PGA got involved. Remember Daley? The pro athlete and the teams in particular exemplify the human condition. In my naivete I hoped, beyond hope, that they were better than the masses I live among. It just so happens that they are the same as those that live in my community. And I should treat them likewise.

Dude on my block gets accused of sexual assault twice, I’m sorry, no more BBQ invites. (Yeah, even accused, not convicted) The dude with the drug conviction? Same thing. DUI? I’m takin’ your keys. Assault on you girl? No invite and I will never respect you again. (I may even get a little physical with you myself). Bet you're a$$ the child abuse arrest would have the HOA figuring out a way to get you out. (And your safety during a nice evening walk may be a thing of the past.) Possession of pot? Your new nickname is Ricky. Attempting to bring an undeclared gun on a plane? Al. (for Al Queda).

Voices on various sites say "What if that were your son or daughter? How would you react?" Well they aren’t my children and IMO don’t deserve the same consideration my children would. (BTW I have both, Sons and a Daughter). So with that in mind. I will continue to support the Steelers and all of their dysfunction. I just may not be as optimistic and rosy eyed as I once was. It only took 40 years to get to this point. (Not a bad run) The human condition is just that, Human. And I, my friends have succumed to being one. Faults and all. GO STEELERS! Screw the superstar.

Arians is a Douche.....

Art Rooney did not say the Steelers needed to run the ball more; he said they needed to run it more effectively. Coach Mike Tomlin acknowledged as much later, and Tuesday, Arians agreed in his first interview since the end of the season.

Effective running? Not a creative short passing game? Passing is just that, passing. And running is just that, running. If I pass a ball ten yards down the field, it's caught, and my reciever falls, its still 10 yards. If I hand the ball to a work horse and he rumbles for four, smashes a lid and knees for one more, thats 35 yards. How do you ask? (Punishment you bitch ass NFC west MoFo's. Punishment). Those pounding knees take a fu({ING toll.
(It pays off when the other teams wear out you fools)
Steelers Football!
I believe Mr. Arians is living in a dream world. Its as if he thinks he created this team. AHHEM…… Anyone remember Ken Wisenhunt? On Jan. 27, 2007 Arians became the Off. Coord. of this (his) team, or the remnance of Kennys boys. KW won two rings IMO, Arians has won 0. Just because his lucky ass is on the sideline means nothing to me……..He is a schmuck.

GOOOOOSFRAAAAAAABBA!!!!!!

P.S. I've been seeing a lot of A-Team previews. Sorry about the "fool" reference.

Crime vs. Punishment

I've been seeing a lot about the Brian Cushing re-vote lately around various sites. Its seems that there are mainly two camps out there.
Camp 1. Brian Cushing cheated and therefore doesn't deserve the DROY (Defensive Rookie of the Year) award and Camp 2, Brian Cushing was punished by the league and everything else doesn't matter.
Well I don't believe its quite that clear. Let me first state that HCG does occur naturally in males, although its generally not in testable ammounts. This we know, Cush had testable ammounts of HCG in his body. Unless he was trying to get pregnant there really wasn't a good excuse for that ammount to be there. So, he violated the NFL's banned substance list. The Nfl punished Cush by suspending him for the first 4 games of the season. Thats 4 weeks without playing or pay. That is the NFLs policy. Same punishment as Holmes.
Since this test was failed last September a lot of people believe he should also lose his AP DROY award and are blasting the media for their hypocrasy. Remember their hollier than thou stance againt MLBers during the late 90's and early 2000's?
I believe the punishment and lack of one fit the crime. While I don't agree with tha AP re-vote results (Cush retained the award with 18 first place votes) I'm not fully convinced he didn't deserve it. Let me explain. After a player tests positive and awaiting the appeals process to play out, he is subject to frequent tests from his team and agents / lawyers to prove he remained clean throughout the process. This means that after his positive result in September he remained clean throughout the rest of the season. I think he earned the award, kind of. I'm not condoning what hes done but how mad can I get?
Roethlisberger is facing up to 6 games missed this season due to his conduct detrimental to the league. Different rule break, different action. The difference in the two is that Cushings sentence guideline is set in stone, black and white. It's in the rule book. Roethlisbergers sentence was in the hands of Goodell. A grey area.
I believe that for any orginization to be succcessful at enforcing its rules they first have to be consistent. Conduct detrimental is a hard rule to set a standard punishment for because of all the possible infractions that may be commited. So it is what it is right now.
The league should have been harder on BB and the media should have crusified Cush. Just my opinion. Crime and Punishment sometimes a little to grey.

BB, Cush, LT and the future of the NFL

Sometimes my “humor” doesn’t translate in writing. When I learn to write better perhaps my comments will be enjoyed. LOL?
Anyways, the Cush thing doesn’t help the sport in the eyes of the casual fan, which is what the NFL depends on for revenue. Diehards only spend so much per year. The casual observer buying that jersey or ticket is who they (the NFL) are marketing to. And with the BB press, LT ad now Cush, a lockout will kill the NFL. We saw what happens to Major sports when the “casual” fan is repulsed by the greed, roids and shenanigans. MLB and MLH still haven’t recoverd. JMO. Anyways, had a couple of copper pieces burning a hole in my pocket. Thanks for letting me drop ‘em here. Oh yeah. it's my page.

It occurred to me. you don't know how I became a fan...........

My Grandfather took me to my first Steelers game,January 12th 1975. SuperBowl IX. Minn. vs. Pitt. I was young, 5 yrs old. I fell asleep during the game, (so I was told). But I was branded from then on. He got the tickets from a client / Cowboys fan and the 4 of us G&G, my brother (a Rams fan) and I made a 4 day trip of it. Cult membership was easy, I didn’t have to sell my belongings (GI Joe’s’ and Tonkas) and move to S. America. I just put on those B&G clothes Granny and Gramps kept sending. I enjoyed this write up quite a bit (http://www.behindthesteelcurtain.com/2010/5/5/1458772/now-thats-steelers-football-a). It brought back memories of a bygone youth and the time with Gramps. And also gave me the blueprint for exactly how it was that I became initiated to the B&G. Helluva marketing scheme Rooneys. Take a kid + Grandparents + SB IX = STEELER Faithful! Very Sneaky, but well appreciated. Long live STEELERS football! And Thanks Gramps, you unwitting pawn in the cult fellowship indoctrination.

Russell meets with Steelers hours after getting released by Oakland.....

In the endless pursuit to BE the Raiders east, the Steelers are reported to be meeting with Russell. Having Lefty, Dix, Batch and that dude from Ohio, the Steelers realize that they must key in on that "talent from oaktown". Apparently 4 QB's is one too few. In their endless pursuit of mediocrity at the QB position the Steelers believe they have achieved utter ineptness with Russell. All the money owed Russell assures the Rooneys' won't have to look at another UDFA, as they can't afford 'em now. Being outbidded by Cincy for Pac-man, the Steelers are feeling the heat to get Russell in their stable. "We is what we is" has been seen scrawled across the facility. Ryan Leafs agent is said to be flying into the "Burgh" tonight. After the release of Harrison, Hampton and a handful of others ( including Clark, Ward, Colon, Miller and Polamalu) the team thinks they can acquire, Bosworth, H. Long, and the original LT. (LT may have a problem making OTA's but should be good to go by Sept.) Colbert is working OT this off season to assure us all that the Steelers are to be rekond with. God save the Queen.........

Meant tongue in cheek as in the workingon7 original post

Brian Cushing Supended 4 games

Brian Cushing of the Texans was appearantly suspended after failing the leagues drug policy. Unbelivable for the second year kid. Doesn't anyone these yahoos hire do anything but take their money? I mean really? All that cash and he tests dirty. It's a sad state of affairs in the NFL. Perhaps a play stoppage will wake these schmucks up. And who knows, we may rebound better than ever. Or hopefully better than MLB or the NHL.

Mercury Morris and redemption vs. BB

Just watched an NFL network program featuring the Dolphins.

The Dolphins had an undefeated season in 1972. Mercury Morris was a member of that team. He was convicted (yes convicted) on drug charges. And years later during a half time presentation they, (the Dolphins) "introduced" those players from that remarkable season. Morris' name was not spoken. Shunned by the "team". Will BB face the same fate? Even though Morris was actually convicted by the courts, BB has dually been convicted by the press and us. (None worse than yours truly). What he's done has been remarkable on the field. What he's done off the field has been (allegedly) atrocious. Will BB be forgiven in a 2020 halftime extravaganza against the crows? Or will he never escape the critics? Morris is doing his part for the youth in his community, but still has yet to be embraced by the "faithful". Can we as the "Nation" forgive BB, or is he slotted to be our Morris?.......Let me know please.

Leftwich Exclaims.......Excited to be back!!!!!

Byron Leftwich couldn’t help but smile coming off the practice field during the team’s mini-camp this past weekend. Not only was he out on the field doing what he loves, playing football, but he was back doing it at a place he loves. “I was excited to be back,” said Leftwich. “I had just a great time when I was here last time and guys welcomed me back with open arms. To be a part of an organization like this, which I feel is the best organization in sports. I had a smile on my face from ear to ear to have the opportunity to come back here and be a part of this.“It’s fun. I had the most fun in my NFL career last time I was here. It’s not because we won the Super Bowl. It was about being in the locker room with the veteran guys, guys who understand what it is all about. Here there is only one goal and that is winning football games.

”Nice answers Lefty. Takin' first team snaps this week and answering questions like that....you may be here a while Sport. This is getting dicey, we all know my views, and sorry Fever and 5020, but I had too.

The Steelers as I said earlier will succeed with BB on the bench. And when he cums comes back he will, I hope, have success. BL takin' snaps, getting the book and being here for at least a year or two will help. He's good for two wins, Dixon 1-2 and Batch 2-3.....soooo thats at least 1-3 when Ben returns. (Historically the Steelers start 1-3, 2-2 at best for first 4) Look it up. On average. (I get it.....we're kinda weak early) BB goes.....hmmmmm. 9-3 at worst...(being optomistic)...after the 2 week prep prior to game 5...hopefully! So 10-6......Wild card...again, 2004-2005 anyone? WE'VE got THIS.

I'm a Steeler Fan...(and also a Ben detractor) Can I be both?

Yeah I’m not a Ben fan, but the Steelers are a different matter. I love the Steelers. How trite. Right? I don’t care for Ben. Week 5 or 6 (really week 5) Ben will return and I will be rooting for the B&G regardless. (Actually week 3 I’ll be in Tampa, C’mon STEELERS!!!!) Against the Browns week 5 Ben will be back. I don’t care for Ben, as I’ve made clear, but when he suits up I’ll put my biases behind me and root for Ben and the STEELERS to succeed. Contridictorary right? I don’t think so. Ben is a Steeler and I support the Steelers. If the heirs of that saavy gambler Art S. see to it that Ben is to be here, than who am I. Art Sr. made choices based on dog performances and card lays. Who are we to degrade the tradition. A questionable gamble? FO SHO! But a Steeler fan I am. I don’t support Ben individually, but as a teamate, I’m hamstrung. (Go Ben Go). So there you go, the conundrum of being a Steeler Fan in 2010 and beyond.
Damn him

DO IT EMINEM....AHHH TO BE A STEELER FAN.....

QBs' Times three....REMEMBER 2004? DEJA VU

Hey Remember the 2004 season? Tommy Maddox went 2-1 and Ben stepped in to go 13-0. We went to the AFC title game where youth reared its ugly head. The following year Maddox went 0-2, Charlie Batch went 2-0 and Ben went 9-3, leading the Burgh to its 5th title. See that? 3 starters, one goal. And success. If Ben sits 4 games this year we have Dixon and Batch (that same Batch). And now Leftwich. Both have already shown they can get the job done, if even for only a limited amount of starts. The Steelers will be O.K. at that position. The Steelers did good in the draft this year with all of their picks. OL/C..LB....RB....a corner and O-lineman they've done well. Relax nation....VICTORY IS OURS!!!!

SANTONIO vs. The FAA

Santonio and his I-pod. This guy is a tool. Is he that big a star that FAA regulations don't apply? Unruly? A neusance? Get the FU({ outta here.
This guy is a tool. A 5th rounder is more than he's worth. The Jets will see. So long and good riddence.
Everone says no big deal about the I-pod.........

The "No big deal" I get. However, having said that, Goodell has set the standard that criminal prosecution is not mandatory for action. As an airport/aircraft employee, (and no I don't throw bags), his behavior is what TSA and the "Marshals" are suppose to prevent. As an avionics tech with the airlines I believe his I-pod more than likely would not interfere with instruments during take off and/or landing, but there is the chance, however slight they may be, that it could. And that is why they are to be turned off during those two times. His arrogance and mis-steps cost him with the Steelers, and his disregard for the safety of the passengers on that flight should get him suspended. Good luck NYJ.....you get what we don't need.

FROM NFL PRESS RELEASE

BEN ROETHLISBERGER TO RECEIVE COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION;
SUSPENDED FOR SIX GAMES FOR VIOLATING NFL PERSONAL CONDUCT POLICY
Suspension Could be Extended or Reduced Based on Roethlisberger’s Progress

COMMISSIONER ROGER GOODELL notified Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback BEN ROETHLISBERGER today that he 1) must undergo a comprehensive behavioral evaluation by medical professionals and 2) will be suspended without pay for the first six games of the regular season for conduct detrimental to the NFL in violation of the league’s Personal Conduct Policy.

After consultation with Commissioner Goodell, Steelers President ART ROONEY and the commissioner informed Roethlisberger by telephone today of the two-step approach that is designed to hold Roethlisberger accountable for his conduct and provide him an opportunity to change his behavior and establish himself as a responsible individual.

In a letter to Roethlisberger, Commissioner Goodell said that Roethlisberger must adhere to any counseling or treatment that is recommended by the professional evaluators to help him make better decisions and avoid situations that can cause legal or other problems. A professional behavioral evaluation is mandatory for anyone that has violated the NFL Personal Conduct Policy. Roethlisberger may not attend any team off-season activity after today until he has completed the evaluation and the evaluating professionals confirm with the commissioner that Roethlisberger may resume football activities. If so cleared, Roethlisberger will be able to participate in training camp and preseason games this summer.

The commissioner said he would review Roethlisberger’s progress under the plan prior to the start of the regular season and consider whether to reduce the suspension to four games. Failure to cooperate and follow the plan could result in a longer suspension, the commissioner added.

“The Personal Conduct Policy makes clear that I may impose discipline ‘even where the conduct does not result in conviction of a crime’ as, for example, where the conduct ‘imposes inherent danger to the safety and well being of another person’,” Commissioner Goodell stated in his letter to Roethlisberger. “As the District Attorney concluded, the extensive investigatory record shows that you contributed to the irresponsible consumption of alcohol by purchasing (or facilitating the purchase of) alcoholic beverages for underage college students, at least some of whom were likely already intoxicated. There is no question that the excessive consumption of alcohol that evening put the students and yourself at risk. The Personal Conduct Policy also states that discipline is appropriate for conduct that ‘undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL players.’ By any measure, your conduct satisfies that standard.”

Commissioner Goodell said his review of the matter included the extensive volume of material released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Milledgeville Police Department; public comments by and a private conversation with Georgia District Attorney Fred Bright; comments and recommendations of Roethlisberger’s representatives; a personal interview with Roethlisberger on April 13; dialogue with current players, former players, the NFL Players Association, and others; and information learned by the NFL office in the course of examining the Milledgeville matter.

Other excerpts from Commissioner Goodell’s letter:

•“I recognize that the allegations in Georgia were disputed and that they did not result in criminal charges being filed against you. My decision today is not based on a finding that you violated Georgia law, or on a conclusion that differs from that of the local prosecutor. That said, you are held to a higher standard as an NFL player, and there is nothing about your conduct in Milledgeville that can remotely be described as admirable, responsible, or consistent with either the values of the league or the expectations of our fans.”

•“Your conduct raises sufficient concerns that I believe effective intervention now is the best step for your personal and professional welfare.”

•“I believe it is essential that you take full advantage of the resources available to you. My ultimate disposition in this matter will be influenced by the extent to which you do so, what you learn as a result, and a demonstrated commitment to making positive change in your life.”

•“In your six years in the NFL, you have first thrilled and now disappointed a great many people. I urge you to take full advantage of this opportunity to get your life and career back on track.”

In addition to the discipline imposed on Roethlisberger, league policy requires that NFL teams remit to the league a portion of a suspended player’s salary starting with the second suspension in a year for violations of the personal conduct or drug policies. The second such suspension in a year results in the club being assessed 25 percent of the suspended player’s forfeited salary to a maximum of $200,000. Prior to the Steelers trading him to the New York Jets, wide receiver Santonio Holmes was suspended for four games for violating the substance abuse program.

THANK YOU STEELERS FOR MAKING THIS PUBLIC

Road to Redemption

“I’d rather go 7-9 with a team I can be proud of than win a Super Bowl with a team full of criminals.” Chris

Redemption is a hard road. And sometimes it is traveled alone, apart from those who were there for you time and time again in the past. Redemption is a personal quest. One that may be started by the urging of others or the solitary cry of a man that has come to his senses. This road of Bens is his own doing, urged by others for the choices he’s made. Obviously not a man that has come to his senses. He has tarnished the Steelers of old…..from 1933 to present day, they have all been scarred by this deviant. He has tarnished the Steelers. I am happy and sad at the events of today. Ben will be punished, and if God is good, traded. As hard as that is to say, we must be Ben free in Pitt. That hurts from a fan point of view, but from a fathers……I can’t be any clearer….THERE IS NO ROOM FOR RAPISTS ON THE STEELERS!!!! I’m sorry Ben, that jersey I bought in ‘04 is in the landfill. I’m sorry to that young woman in Georgia, her pain I carry and will for sometime. Week 3 I will be in Tampa, rooting for MY STEELERS with all I have. And then…….wait and see I guess. I hope the Raiders take him, He’ll fit in fine in the east bay. Friggin Hood. So with that and a prayer that Oakland shi!$ a couple 1st rounders and some cash I say goodnight. The Steeler nation will heal but this scar will never fade. DAMN HIM!!!!!

Steelers trading Ben?....I don't think so

Steelers reportedly open to trading Big Ben

NFL.com reports that the Steelers have held internal discussions and are willing to listen to trade offers for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

According to the source, Steelers ownership remains dismayed and embarrassed by Roethlisberger’s actions in a Georgia college town this offseason and finds his string of off-the-field incidents troubling. The team has been closely monitoring the public backlash against Roethlisberger.

“The Rooneys are livid,” the source said.

The Steelers’ front office has talked internally about possible trade scenarios that could be feasible and what makes sense for the team. According to a source, if other teams called about Roethlisberger, the Steelers would intently listen.

The Steelers could envision several trade scenarios, but they’re skeptical about other teams taking on Roethlisberger, given his baggage. However, they also realize his contract is tradeable in an uncapped year, with the bonuses already paid and Roethlisberger signed for six more years at a manageable salary for a franchise quarterback ($8.05 million in 2010, $11.6 million per year from 2011 to 2014, and $12.1 million in 2015).

The article goes on to say that the Steelers are “enamored” with Sam Bradford, but unless the Rams are willing to trade them the top overall pick then Pittsburgh won’t have the opportunity to draft the Oklahoma product.

It’ll be interesting to see whether or not the Steelers are actually willing to trade Big Ben or if they’re just trying to put a scare into him. It’s not like teams can walk into the supermarket and shop for franchise quarterbacks down aisle 10, so Pittsburgh knows the risk it’s taking if it does part with Roethlisberger. It could be a move that essentially changes the dynamics of their franchise and considering he’s only 28, I doubt the Steelers are ready to go down that road right now.

That said, there’s no question that the organization is peeved about this situation. They traded Santonio Holmes for a roll of toilet paper, so clearly they’re not opposed to make bold moves to send a message. While they won’t give up Big Ben for peanuts, if they’re offered fair (or even slightly less than fair) value I think it’s a very real possibility that Roethlisberger’s days in Pittsburgh are numbered.

ART II ARE YOU SERIOUS????

ART II ARE YOU SERIOUS????
Alright, one disciplinary step left before the Ben situation is laid to rest. Unlike what I said earlier, the Steelers and Rooneys chumped out. Handing down disciplinary action via the NFL is chicken S#!T. The Steelers, MY STEELERS, OUR STEELERS, had an opportunity to stand up and be a model. Instead they followed the likes of Jerry Jones and Al Davis, letting the NFL take action and calling it their own. Sad. After 30+ years of following this franchise, this remarkable franchise, I never thought that Id be embarrassed by the Rooneys. Yet here I sit, dumbfounded and a little dazed. His sentence is to run concurrent? JESUS!!!! Im no saint but tell me this. Are his parents proud of his off-field behavior? If they are Ill shut up. Somehow I doubt it. To allow this miscreant to skate by hurts. But the Rooneys are smart I guess, they know us die hards will root for the B&G, buy tickets and come to watch the Team. Ben is a teammate. We will watch, root, cheer and jeer. We will scream with delight at a last minute pass T.D. and groan with a last minute sack. We are predictable. We are fans. And today I too threw up a little in my mouth.

Ward on Santonio

15-Apr-2010

Ward 'discouraged' by Big Ben's actions
Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward said he is "discouraged" by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger's off-the-field conduct and called some recent incidents "unfortunate" for the Steelers organization.

"I'm not really disappointed in anything," Ward said this afternoon. "I'm discouraged a little bit because the Pittsburgh Steelers come with a high level. Expectations are high. It's unfortunate that our organization has to be in the news like this."

Ward's comments came during a brief media interview session following a question and answer period with 40 student/athletes as part of a Gatorade promotion at North Hills High School.

Ward also indicated that, if the Steelers win the Super Bowl, he would retire after the season. During his 40-minute Q&A session with North Hills football players, the 13-year veteran said his career would be complete with another ring.

"If I win three Super Bowls, I'm retiring," Ward said. "I'm telling you that right now."

Ward said, if he had his way, troubled wide receiver Santonio Holmes would still be on the Steelers, but he supports any actions taken by the Rooney family and/or the NFL.

"It's an unfortunate incident and I would have loved for him to stay, but it's not my team," Ward said. "Who am I to question Mr. Rooney and the Pittsburgh Steelers? They have been doing this thing for a lot of years. They felt it was best for Santonio and best for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Whatever choices they make, they have our support."

Ward, the team's all-time leading receiver, is confident his teammates can fill the void created when Holmes was traded to the New York Jets for a fifth-round draft pick.

"It's unfortunate that Santonio is no longer with us," Ward said. "(But) Mike Wallace had a tremendous rookie year and now he's going to get more opportunities to become that guy. ...Yes, we're young. But, at the same time, that's my job as a leader. I've been in this game a long time and I've seen a lot of players come and go. I'm up for the challenge."

Ward, speaking publicly about Roethlisberger for the first time since Georgia officials decided not to pursue any charges in the alleged sexual assault last month of a 20-year-old college student, said the Steelers' expectations remain the same.

"One thing about us is that we're a close-knit family," he said. "We are going to rally behind each other and support each other. Whatever decision that Mr. Rooney or the league makes, we are going to abide by it and move on. It's not going to change the way we approach things. It's not going to change the expectation level. Our goal is still to win the Super Bowl."

TERRY ON BEN AND 3-4 GAME SUSPENSION?

Well Terry came out and said what we all know.....Ben is an idiot off the field. I believe that with the turmoil Terry had in Pittsburgh during and after his career, he has earned a right to publicly criticize Ben. When "The man" tells you to shape up and fly right you should listen Ben. And it appears that over the first couple of weeks of the season Ben will have an opportunity to reflect. Barring appeals and B.S. that is. If hes smart he wont let his staff argue that it should be anything less than that. Since they haven't been there for him in the bars and casinos they shouldn't be there for him now. Having said that, remember the 2004 season? Tommy Maddox went 2-1 and Ben stepped in to go 13-0. We went to the AFC title game where youth reared its ugly head. The following year Maddox went 0-2, Charlie Batch went 2-0 and Ben went 9-3, leading the Burgh to its 5th title. See that? 3 starters, one goal. And success. If Ben sits 4 games this year we have Dixon and Batch (that same Batch). Both have already shown they can get the job done, if even for only a limited amount of starts. The Steelers will be O.K. at that position. Its the O-line and D that need to be addressed. The Steelers need to beef up the O-line and re-tool the secondary. It will help having Troy back, but that is not enough. Look for the Steelers to pick a safety in the draft and acquire a corner and O-lineman via free agency/trade.

Although somewhat tarnished, The Steelers will recover from this. Eventually. Time to focus on the future, we'll see what Goodell does and then move forward accordingly.

Ben, Ben, Ben. Really? A role model? To my kids?
Unbelievable. I'm almost speechless. Almost. This freekin' yahoo. When he stood up there looking every bit the backwoods neanderthal that he is with that mullet. And said that he wants to be a role model for my kids? Unbelievable. When those words spewed out from his play caller, that same, foul, lying mouth the poor girl in Georgia had to fight off, I was appalled.

Websters on line dictionary defines a role model as:
Role Model:
Noun:1. Someone worthy of imitation; "every child needs a role model".
Synonyms within Context: Role Model (source: adapted from Roget's Thesaurus).
Prototype Verb: be an example, be a role model, set an example; set a copy. Phrase: a precedent embalms a principle; exempla sunt odiosa.

Is Ben worthy of imitation? I would hope not. Although he could be an example. As in, "Billy if you act the fool like that troll in Pittsburgh, all your hard work will be for naught." Hopefully Goodell will be consistent with his handling of Ben as he has been with other miscreants. Its in the commissioners hands now, so lets see. Will he (the commissioner) set the example, and actually become the definition of "role model" after todays meeting? We'll see. I hope so. Its time some order was restored to the Steelers. Hopefully this chapter can be closed now and we can move on.
I wish that young lady in Milledgeville the best and hope that the NFL's actions will not further victimize her. Don't disapoint us commissioner, set the example and be a role model.

STEELERS TRADE SANTONIO HOLMES TO JETS
for fifth rounder in 2010 draft.
Just got up for midnight snack and saw this news. Its 1235am 12-APR-2010 NFL network Jason La Canfora confirms trade.
Its nice to see the Steelers are doing something about at least one of the loose cannons on the squad. To tell the truth that even in the haze I'm in at this hour I am quite happy to hear this. I'll sleep like a baby tonight. It's a step, Pittsburgh, towards cleaning the mud off of the Black and Gold. Nice work. Its been awhile since I could say this, but I 'm proud of the Steelers tonight.

SANTONIO HOLMES (S.H.)
I was pissed when S.H. (Shit Head #10) was signed. He's been suspect since he was drafted, (remember the pot incident?). When they did sign him I felt a twinge in my stomache, I was worried. He hid his behavior a couple of years from the masses but eventually the world sees him for what he is. And as far as the running back from Oregon, (whose name I will not commit to memory) that the Steelers are talking to? ..God help us. The Raiders East is approaching fast. I strongly hope that Tomlin and the Rooneys take control. Restore Pittsburgh to the CLASS of the NFL! Check out nicepickcowher.com he's why I tried this.

SANTONIO GETTING SUSPENDED? WE'RE NOT THAT LUCKY
Sources: Santonio Holmes facing four-game suspension
Posted by Mike Florio on April 10, 2010 11:24 AM ET
Late Friday afternoon brought good news for some of the Pittsburgh Steelers, with the report from ESPN that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger won't be charged with sexual assault in Milledgeville, Georgia.

Now for the bad news or more like it........the expected news.

Multiple sources have advised us (MSN/ESPN) that receiver Santonio Holmes is facing a four-game suspension under the league's substance-abuse policy. It's presently unknown whether Holmes tested positive for a prohibited substance or committed some other violation of the policy, such as missing a required test. It's our current understanding that the internal NFL appeals process has not been finalized.

Under the substance-abuse policy, a four-game suspension comes after multiple violations. The fact that Holmes, the MVP of Super Bowl XLIII, is facing a four-game suspension means that Holmes previously has paid a fine in the amount of three seventeenths of his base salary (i.e., three game checks).

Though we're not aware of the specific identity of the substance involved, Holmes has a history with marijuana. In 2008, he was cited for marijuana possession, prompting the Steelers to suspend him for one game with pay. Recently, he posted on Twitter a message indicating an intention to "wake n bake," slang for smoking marijuana upon getting out of bed.

Holmes also has recently been accused of throwing a drink in the face of a woman at an Orlando nightclub. The alleged victim has both sued Holmes and pursued criminal liability, after indicating on the scene that she did not want to press charges. His lawyer has denied the accusations, recently claiming that a witness has signed a sworn statement taking responsibility for throwing the drink. The suspension Holmes faces arose independently of this alleged incident.

What a piece of work this idiot is........GET RID OF HIM NOW!!!!!!!!!
